The Check this receipt notice

When SlipInbox has a doubt about a receipt, it sets the receipt to Needs review and shows a Check this receipt notice at the top of the receipt page. The notice lists each doubt in a sentence of its own.

Values SlipInbox is unsure of are also highlighted on the page, with the note “Unsure. Check it against the original.” under them. Check those first.

Every reason, and what to do

Each line below starts with the sentence the notice shows, then says what to do.

We couldn’t read the merchant clearly.
Check the merchant’s name against the photo and correct it. Setting the name clears this.
We couldn’t read the date clearly, or it looks wrong.
Check the date and set it. Setting the date clears this.
We couldn't tell which currency this is in.
Set the currency, such as ZMW or USD. Setting it clears this.
We couldn’t read the total clearly.
Check the total against the photo and set it. Setting the total clears this.
The receipt shows more than one total.

This total is far from what this merchant usually charges.
Make sure the total is read right. Setting the total, even to the same amount, clears this.
Subtotal, VAT, tip and discount don't add up to the total.
Check the subtotal, VAT, discount and tip in the Items card. This clears as soon as they add up to the total, or when you set the VAT.
The VAT looks too large for the total.
Check the VAT. This clears once the VAT fits the total, or when you set it.
The receipt shows a receipt or invoice number we couldn't read. Add it.

How a reason clears

  • A doubt about one field goes away as soon as you set that field yourself.
  • Doubts about the VAT go away once the subtotal, VAT, discount, tip and total add up.
  • When the last doubt goes, the receipt becomes Ready on its own.
  • Doubts about the photo as a whole, or about reading itself, stay until someone presses Mark checked.

To change a field, see Edit a receipt.

Mark checked

When everything matches the photo, press Mark checked. The receipt becomes Ready, and the values the doubts were about count as yours: reading the receipt again never changes them or raises the same doubts.

Mark checked does not approve the receipt. Approve it afterwards, from the receipt page or the review queue. A receipt in Needs review can’t be approved until it is checked.
To go through many receipts in a row, use The review queue and keyboard shortcuts. Approving and rejecting are in Approve, reject and reopen.
