Read a receipt again

Read again, start from scratch, or throw away your changes.

The Receipt actions menu

Everything you do to a receipt as a whole is in the three-dots menu beside its title, called Receipt actions.

Admins and Accountants can read a receipt again. Delete is for admins, and only on a receipt nobody has approved or rejected yet.

Read again or from scratch

  • Read again reads the photo once more and fills in every field you haven’t changed. Use it after a reading failed, or when a field came out wrong and you’d rather not type it.
  • Read from scratch does the same but ignores what earlier readings found. Use it when reading again keeps giving the same wrong answer.

Either way the receipt shows Processing until reading finishes, and the fields fill in on their own. You can’t change it meanwhile. Values and items you changed by hand are kept; see Edit a receipt.

The reading options aren’t offered on a receipt somebody approved, rejected or exported. Reopen it first; see Approve, reject and reopen.

Discard your changes

Discard my changes appears once someone has changed a value or an item by hand. It hands the whole receipt back to reading.

  1. Open Receipt actions and choose Discard my changes.

  2. Read the Discard your changes box, then press Discard and read again.

    Discard and read again
Every value and item changed by hand goes back to what reading finds on the receipt, including changes other people made. This can’t be undone.

See the text that was read

Show read text opens Text read from the photo: every word SlipInbox read, exactly as it read it, mistakes included. Use it to find a value that is hard to make out on the photo, or press Copy text to paste it elsewhere.

Anyone who can open the receipt can see its read text. When reading fails often, a clearer photo helps most; see Take a photo that reads well.
