Possible duplicates

When SlipInbox thinks it has seen a receipt before, and what to do.

Who can do this
Admins and accountants

How a possible duplicate shows

When a new receipt looks like one you already have, SlipInbox sets the new one to Needs review so nobody exports the same purchase twice. The earlier receipt is left alone.

The Check this receipt notice on the new receipt says which of these it found, with a link to Open the earlier receipt:

  • The same photo was already added as another receipt.
  • Another receipt from this merchant has the same receipt number.
  • Another receipt has the same merchant, date and total.

Keep it or remove it

Open the earlier receipt and compare the two. Then, on the new one:

  • If it’s a real second purchase, such as two identical orders from the same place on the same day, press Not a duplicate. The duplicate warning goes, and the receipt becomes Ready unless other doubts are still open.
  • If it’s a copy, an admin presses Delete. Accountants can reject it instead, so it never goes into an export.
Mark checkedNot a duplicateDelete

Mark checked also settles the warning, along with any other doubts on the receipt. See Why a receipt needs review.

Deleting removes the photo and the fields for good. Make sure you delete the copy, not the original.

Find every possible duplicate

On Receipts, choose Possible duplicate in the status menu to see every receipt still flagged as a copy. See Find receipts.

To reject or delete several copies at once, select them on the list; see Work on many receipts at once.
