Custom fields
Read your own details from receipts, such as a project code.

- Admins and accountants

- Business and Enterprise
What custom fields are
Custom fields are extra details to read from your receipts, beyond merchant, date, amounts and category, such as a project code, a cost center or a vehicle number. SlipInbox looks for them on every receipt it reads.
They come with the Business and Enterprise plans; see pricing. Admins and accountants set them up.
Add a field
Open SettingsCustom fields and press Add field.
Fill in all three:
- Name, as you want it on receipts and in exports.
- Description: say what it is and where it is on the receipt.
- Example: give a real value from a receipt.

Dates, numbers and text
The example also sets what kind of value the field holds:
- 03/10/2026
- A date field. Values are kept as dates.
- 1,250.00
- A number field, for amounts.
- PRJ-0042 or 00731
- A text field. Values are kept exactly as printed, leading zeros and all.
Where the values show
On each receipt, the values sit under Additional information. Check and correct them like any other field; see Edit a receipt.
Each field can also be a column in your exports. Tick it in a layout of your own; see Choose the columns in an export.
Change or remove a field
Open the menu on a field’s row and choose Edit. Changes apply to receipts read from now on; receipts already read keep their values. To read an older receipt for the change, read it again.
Choose Remove to stop reading a field.
